REVIEW
Iza’s Chicken Corner started in 2013 and ever since have served tasty and affordable delicacies to the busy streets of Sampaloc, Manila. Owned by a Muslim family from Zamboanga. (Their managers can talk Bahasa Sug). Their servers and workers are mostly from Mindanao, either from Zamboanga or Pagadian. They can speak Bahasa Sug (Tausug), Binisaya, or Chavacano.

Their fried chicken is available for as cheap as P39 with rice. Their specialty grilled chicken ranges from P49 to P79. They also have a deliciously made Chicken Siopao for P30. The place is also homy that you will see a lot of costumers eating using their bare hands. Of course you can opt to do that as well! There's a clean lavatory and sink at the sides before the stairs to the 2nd floor.

2nd Floor: A pretty cozy and well-maintained place.

Their special Grilled Chicken. You make your own sauce/gravy ^_^

REVIEW
Dulang” refers to the set of foods served to guests during traditional celebrations in the islands of Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi and Zamboanga Peninsula. Dulang can also mean the golden or silver tray with intricate designs where those foods are served.

Dulang Restaurant started as a catering service in Zamboanga City and now became a Halal restaurant owned by a Muslim family. Their first and main establishment is in Zamboanga City and the Manila Branch in Ermita was officially established in 2013. They serve delicious Tausūg and Malaysian foods at an affordable price. They offer discounted “Budget Meals” which include a cup of rice, one meat viand (choose from chicken or beef) and a vegetable side dish with free soup. The Tiyula’ Itum (black soup), the trademark recipe of the Tausūgs, is their specialty. They also serve by-order Mi-Goreng and other noodles from Malaysia. Their Tausūg Kahawa (native coffee) is also a favourite by most costumers partnering it with hot and tasty Tausūg delicacies like wadjit, apam, tabid-tabid, durul, patulakan, or putli’ mandi.

The place has a welcoming ambiance with chatty servers. People who came from or at least have visited the ZamBaSulTa area would certainly feel at home as most costumers will be speaking in their local dialects.

Dulang is also a few blocks away from Robinsons Manila, Philippine General Hospital and various Travel Agencies in Ermita. A few walk to spend a relaxing afternoon after an exhausting day at work. The only downside with Dulang is their small area, no accessible comfort room and limited parking nearby.

REVIEW:

Gayyah’s Halal Restaurant started as a Meat shop in Del Pilar St. Malate, Manila up until May 2014 when they opened the Halal Restaurant. It is owned by a Muslim family who are now stationed in Manila.

They serve Malaysian, Indonesian, Indian, Pakistani and Tausūg foods. They open as early as 6AM serving mostly Satti for P65 (Beef) or P75 (Chicken). They have a variety of delicious foods which can be bought as separate dishes or by “value meals” with ranges from P65 to P75, with free soup and a cup of juice. Their Satti and Biryani (P120) are two of the favourite and best-selling dishes ordered by the costumers. They also serve Tomyang, Nasi Ayam, Mee Padas, Mee Goring and Martabaks (Beef/Chicken) among others. Their foods are really deliciously prepared. They also serve hot teas, coffees (native or instant), and some sweets like pali’ kambing, patulakan and apam.

The servers are also courteous and would insist that they take your orders and bring them to your table themselves. The place has a spacey and well-maintained area with comfortable tables that can be arranged when in need of more space (for bigger groups). They also have a television where one can watch and spend time. The place is air-conditioned most of the time. Aside from the TV and the people chatting, the noises are pretty tolerable.
