This is a Middle Eastern/Indian shop, and carries all kinds of spices, rice, lentils, halal products of different sorts, frozen (fresh) meat - whole chicken, goat, mutton kheema and on occasion beef and lamb. Also available are different teas, coffees, henna color (hands and hair), soaps, etc.

The prices vary, reasonable spices in big quantities but somewhat pricey meat. Chicken ranges from P150 - P250 per pack, one pack (500g) mutton P275.

    Assalamalaikum,

    I have just noticed that there are couple comments on this post.. Sorry for the late reply to his. As far as I know Assad is still open, in both Makati and Manila. The Makati outlet is smaller than the Manila one, but you will always be able to get frozen whole chicken and sometimes other types of frozen meats, mostly goat. and of course great variety of spices and other yummy middleeastern imports. They are open everyday, but take pre caution for holidays, and perhaps sundays.

      Hi, thanks for you message.

      Not sure about the actual fenugreek seeds, but if its sold anywhere I would say Assad Minimart is a place to check.

      try calling them on (632) 5261349 / 5265034 and ask if they have this in stock. They ahve two branches, one in Manila and one in Makati, but the one in Manila is bigger and might have more options.

      There is also a persian shop in Greenhilss called Bijan, its small but they have nice selection of herbs and seeds. You can find information about Bijan shop on this Blog, just search tehre Bijan or check ouit Greenhills on the right side here.

      Hi sorry for the late response.

      Not sure if they sell those products.

      Except for Pita/nan breads i know they have.

      I normally by hummus and tahina in Manila/malate at SSC - http://halalmanila.blogspot.no/2010/01/normal-0-microsoftinternetexplorer4_22.html

      As for the spices you can try and see if they have it in Assad Mini Mart, they do have a lot. Maybe check out the Manila branch, thats the biggest one with most options.

      Hi, sorry for late response on this message. Yes they do sell pita breads there, both thin and thick kind. You can find them in the frozen section and some times they have a lot freshly made in the shop.

      The nearest market for fresh halal meat would be in Maharlika, it is in Taguig, about 30 minutes with taxi from Global City.

      You can search on our blog here, under halal meat/groceries, and you can find different options on where to find halal meat.

      Its not so easy, and if you have a freezer, you can buy in larger stocks, so that you wouldnt have to go so often.

      I know that Assad supplies frozen whole chicken, and sometimes goat and mutton. might be they have other things as well, but thats what i have mostly bought there in the past.
